If you like to eat your oysters on a copper bar, mark you calendar for March 20. That’s the date Rappahannock Oyster Bar will open in the Cigar Factory.

We got an early look today and the space is the epitome of adaptive reuse — exposed brick, beams, and floorboards tastefully framing a 36-seat bar. Outside will be even more dining at picnic tables. In the entrance there’s going to be a deli cooler where people will be able to pick up to-go seafood they can pre-order via Rappahannock’s forthcoming app.

It’s gonna be a swank spot to tuck in for some bivalves, but co-owners Travis and Ryan Croxton don’t want people to think it’s Rappahannock is just about oysters. “We hesitated even putting oyster bar in the name,” Ryan said. “We didn’t want to downplay what Chef Kevin Kelly can do.

Once open, Rappahannock Oyster Bar will serve lunch and dinner daily.
