Freeloaders: This week's best free events

MONDAY. Best Bet: The Family Circle Cup presents “Citizens of the World Night” where tennis meets the Navy. Meet and greet with the sailors, dance to music from Navy rock band Southeast Pride, and man a jet in the flight simulator. The party lasts from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Family Circle Tennis Center. The Second Monday Lecture Series continues at 7 p.m. at the Charleston Center for Photography with Priscilla Thomas and City Paper contributors Ben Williams and Reese Moore.

TUESDAY. Best Bet: Atlanticville Restaurant and Café hosts Thai Tuesdays featuring music from Annie Boxell & the Vicious Circle from 7-10 p.m.

WEDNESDAY. Best Bet: Local band Dante’s Camaro will be rocking the night away during the Recovery Room’s two-year anniversary party. The celebration begins at 8 p.m.

THURSDAY. Best Bets: City Paper’s Movies in Marion Square continues with Twilight: New Moon, and The Spring Design Walk takes over Upper King starting at 5 p.m. Book lovers will want to go to the new Barnes and Noble at the College of Charleston, where they’ll have an all-day Grand Opening celebration with author showcases, free food, a sketch artist, and more. Ice cream lovers should get a free slice of MaggieMia’s Ice Cream Pizza from 3-7 p.m. at Maggie Moo’s. Bicycling advocates Charleston Moves continues their ongoing lecture series, Revolution on 2 Wheels, at the American Theater from 7-9 p.m. Top off the night with musical entertainment at the Pour House at 9 p.m. with Cary Ann Hearst & Michael Trent and Sadler Vaden. Admission is free with a canned food item.

FRIDAY. Best Bet: 16 Penny Gallery hosts an opening reception for The Lyric Show featuring artists whose works are inspired by song lyrics. The show opens at 6 p.m. The School of the Arts is dedicating their new theater at 7 p.m. with tribute performances from students and faculty and former SOA students like Daniel Davis and Richard Bryant. Outer Space is hosting The Queer Show from 8-11 p.m., which will explore the queer identity in media.

SATURDAY. Best Bets: Celebrate Record Store Day at Monster Movies & Music and 52.5 Records. Both stores will feature their own in-store live performances, specials, and sales all day long. Festivities at 52.5 officially begin at 4 p.m. Head to Hampton Park for the Walk for Autism at 10 a.m. There will be live music, haircuts, jump castles, and more. Park Circle celebrates Earth Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Then at 5:30 p.m. Park Circle and Slow Food Charleston continue Earth Day celebrations with a potluck. Author of Restoring the House in the City Ingrid Abramovitch will give a lecture at the American College of the Building Arts (Old City Jail) at 1 p.m. where she’ll talk about restoring old homes. Jungians will appreciate Jung on Film, presented by the Charleston Jung Society. The show will be in the Providence Baptist Church; doors open at 4:30 p.m.

SUNDAY. Hugh Wilder, philosophy professor at CofC, will speak on the subject of ethics and animals in Gage Hall at 4 p.m.
