Lowcountry chic women’s retailer Copper Penny has expanded over the years from its original 1987 Mt. Pleasant location, and now it is looking to expand even further. The Southern style store is now franchising its boutiques, including sister store Copper Penny Shooz. The two shops will be available to entrepreneurs for investment, resulting in part from high demand. “We have had so many requests to either open up in other areas or offer franchising opportunities,” says Copper Penny founder and president Penny Vaigneur.

The brand currently has six locations, including Mt. Pleasant, Charleston, and Savannah. This new opportunity will expand the brand name throughout many more locations, including its first franchise debut in Columbia, which opened Aug. 6.

Copper Penny’s collection of designer labels includes prominent names like Diane Von Furstenburg, Trina Turk, Jack Rogers, Milly, Shoshanna, Tibi, Sam Edelman, Michael Stars, Ella Moss, Splendid, Citizens of Humanity, Hudson, Virgins Saints & Angels, Tolani, Rowen, and Whitley V. Designs. You’ve probably seen their popular Jack Rogers sandals across college campuses and on King Street feet.

Both stores have received national recognition from Lucky, InStyle, Oprah, and Cosmopolitan magazines. For more info, check out Copper Penny’s website at www.shopcopperpenny.com.
