Re: “Charleston has taken positive steps since the Emanuel shooting

What loophole? There is no loophole. Nothing to close. The nut who did this terrible thing underwent a background check. No law was broken. The term "loophole" has become a democrat talking point just as many other terms have been hijacked to mean something other than what they are. Let's be clear. Leftists don't give a hoot about the nuts, felons and terrorists. What they really want is to keep tabs on transfers between mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

They're after inheritances, bequeathals and gifts. They're also after the sales of inherited collections, however small they are. The goal is to disarm the public within one generation. New York, California, et al., already have begun by comparing death certificates to permits and taking guns from widows. They need to intimidate and control us because we're the source of all the money. Blackstone nailed the bottom line when he affirmed, The natural right of resistance and self-preservation, when the sanctions of society and laws are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Boxcutter on a Silver Platter

I love your recaps. This show is far better than the pale imitation that follows it on Bravo. Landon-- stop simpering. Get a real job and accomplish something. Cameran-- you continue to be the Greek chorus for this group-- you're great. Naomie-- you have lost all respect for Craig (which is at least somewhat understandable). Break it off. You are sniping at him, and it is not helping. You two are NOT meant to be together!

Re: “The indictment of journalist Aaron Cantú portends grim future for First Amendment

Aaron Cante wasn't the only "journalist" at the black bloc riot, but he was the only one to be charged with the other anarchists due to the video evidence obtained by the prosecution showing Mr. Cante clear involvement in criminal activities. When so-called journalists (and a self described "freelance journalist", which is often claimed in these instances by defendants caught red-handed) engages in riotous activities, they destroy not only their own journalistic integrity but give up their journalistic protections. Journalists are not above the law and have no right to incite a riot or engage in acts of assault or vandalism.

And to write "Although the charges were first brought by an Obama appointee, this is a perfect example of what justice may look like in the Trump era" is at the very least disingenuous if not absurd. The District of Columbia courts are the most liberal in the country and the Obama appointee would not have brought charges unless they knew the defendant was guilty and they could prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

You can't have it both ways and claim you're just a reporter when you holding a Molotov cocktail and breaking into an ATM. Do the crime, do the time.

I missed your stream of consciousness bullet points at the end. Don't let a lady having a bad day change your style. I've had bad days too and I gave the universe and its inhabitants permission to ignore any and all comments I make during those beast-days. But I enjoy your point of view, whatever you decide to do.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Boxcutter on a Silver Platter

I have a few things to add to this. First, Thomas needs to find a woman that is a bit older more mature and not kathryn or landon. Second, i believe kathryn has some type of mental disorder because she is too volatile and her moods fluctuates too easily. She should be monitored constantly. Third, craig is getting on my last nerve with his inability to see what he's causing in his own relationship and he needs to mind his own business. Lastly, i hope shep gets his life together because he seems to be a nice guy but has no responsibility and nothing to do or look forward to

It got mean like this too with the W.Bush/Cheney Karl Rove campaign and no one was exempt not even other republicans running. The only difference was that W.Bush wasn't doing the hate rhetoric like Trump does.

In my experience and opinion, I lived long enough to know while it appears the devil is winning then something happens that ends it, even in politics and especially politics and who is always wrong ....the republicans and why? That almighty dollar and power.

With coverage like this no one needs to watch the show. Although I did love the look on Thomas's face when Landon put him in his place so glad I did not miss that. Was glad Landon had a more normal time for herself. Thomas is too mean to have a women. What he said to Kathryn was so uncalled for. You cannot want a women to put you on a pedestal when you cannot treat her right. You love your booze and partying more than you are capable of loving anyone. Booze is the oldest story of self destruction there is.

Re: “The Charleston RiverDogs expertly trolled Tim Tebow all weekend

This is so incredibly amazing to read. After the classless mocking of Tim Tebow who has done more good in the world than anyone associated with the Riverdogs and who has also done nothing but good for your team by bringing in record crowds, the Charleston Riverdogs (and you as the writer of this article) have proven out what has come to be accepted in our country; If you are Christian you are fair game for unbridled ridicule and mockery. I can tell you one thing for a fact, if Tim Tebow was a Muslim or a Hindu nobody in the RiverDogs organization would dream of pulling these types of antics. All the criticism the RiverDogs are receiving they deserve. What a pitiful testament and a black mark on a beautiful city. Someone needs to apologize and trying to back-pedal and try to say they were not doing what they so obviously where doing. What a shame.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Boxcutter on a Silver Platter

And people in hell want ice water. Don't think they will get it any time soon and I hope the same for your 'critiquer' who was having such a hard day and thought she would go forth and be bold in the world by criticizing someone who makes us laugh. If she's not laughing, nobody is!
Landan .you crazy girl! Just take one thought in your head and try to keep it there for more then 5 seconds. This changing your story and your mind everytime a seagull cries will have no one betting on you. Not even the gamblers who bet on how long a chicken can go without a head. ( by the way, I haven't heard from your dad about that land job. Again, I can send my resume through email ON MY COMPUTER so there's that.)
Thomas is bereft He knows that is the last time two women will ever fight over him even if he does continue to ignite the flames with stories of his being taken advantage of by a 21 year old...

Re: “The Charleston RiverDogs expertly trolled Tim Tebow all weekend

You done goofed, Riverdogs and CCP: you see because Mr. Tebow has branded his faith, that means any slight against him or his brand is a slight against Christianity. Never mind that he isn't the most religious player from his days at Florida, nor the Denver Broncos, nor even the Fireflies... nobody cares about those dudes because they haven't built the brand or... ick they pray in oof... Spanish.

So you made fun of Jesus and all those who follow him. Shame on you!

Re: “The Agenda: Sanford says Trump "partially to blame" for rhetoric; S.C. getting $31M from VW

I was in a local pharmacy getting a few things yesterday. I was in line and there was an elderly lady in front of me working on her transaction. Two young men came up behind me in the line and one uttered an expletive. The clerk asked if they could not do that in the business and that's when the men really started. "We can say what the fnck we want to. This is America", said one. Then the other chimed in with, "Yeah, you can say anything you want. There's nothing they can do, this is America."

I was appalled but not surprised and the elderly lady in front was speechless and trying to get her things together and get out of there quickly. You just don't know when something is going to erupt and I also left quickly avoiding any contact, which surely would have incited an incident.

Indeed, this is America, however, that behavior is Trump's America. I, too, am glad that we can say anything we want to in America without prosecution but I am also glad that I was taught to have respect for others, especially the elderly. In today's society, interactions like this are cause to be afraid for one's self being. I was and I know the lady was too.

We are now living in an uncivilized society and our Presidential role model is fanning the flames with his dangerous and lying rhetoric.

Glad to know that you and only you know what Comey was referring to, as no other publication has put forth this theory. As for admitting to a mistake, I don't recall Obama ever admitting to one either, but credit taking he was excellent at.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Boxcutter on a Silver Platter

I love your columns! I do watch the show, but I look forward to your recaps just as much, if not more, than the actual episodes. I think your column is perfection--everything from your homages to film/music/literature to your effort to pinpoint a theme for each episode, even though it's clear that the Bravo producers themselves do not put that much thought into the show. Even your photo captions are hilarious. Don't let the opinion of one person muffle your zaniness. I literally laugh out loud when I read your writing, and I think a lot of other people do too.

Re: “The Charleston RiverDogs expertly trolled Tim Tebow all weekend

We were at the Sunday game and almost everyone in the stands took pictures and cheered everytime he was at bat. Sounds like whoever wrote the article is trying to stir up trouble. They even did a video tribute to him on Sunday and thanked him for coming out. From what I saw even riverdogs fans enjoyed having him here. We surely wouldn't have gone this weekend if he hadn't been in town. If he was harrassed I'd like to be the first to apologize. That's not the way we do things in Charleston.
