Re: “Breaking down the proposed I-526 extension

SWEET JESUS as my Daddy used to say. We used to joke that James and Johns Islands were gonna sink under the weight of all the people suddenly(or what seemed like suddenly)living there. I grew up in Riverland Terrace. Riverland Drive to be exact. My Mother continues to live in our family home and often times I drive her to the Walgreens on the corner of Folly and Camp Roads. Sometimes we "do" the Goodwill(you'd be AMAZED at what u can find there)store across from said Walgreens. We drive the "back" way. Up Riverland Drive to Camp and so on. We're always incredulous at the line of vehicles backed up on Riverland Dr from the Maybank Hwy intersection all the way to Camp Rd ending at Folly Rd Intersection where theres cars as far as the eye can see waiting to turn off Folly to get on Camp to Riverland to Maybank to home in Riverland Terrace or Johns Island/Kiawah/Seabrook and whatever else is that way. Ravenel and Hollywood perhaps. The people living on that part of Riverland Dr CAN'T EVEN GET OUT OF THEIR DRIVEWAYS! Or into their driveways for that matter. Same thing at Christmas and new years with thousands of folks going to enjoy the lights at James Island Co Park. I grew up on the section of Riverland unaffected by the traffic and I'm REALLY happy my Mother isn't subjected to the intrusion of the people and their vehicles invading Riverland Dr day in and day out. Those cars are practically sitting in folk's yards over there!! Thats WAY too intimate. As a Charleston native, I'm sick about the whole freaking debacle. Republican or Democrat. Lefty or Right wing. State or Feds. Doesn't matter. Something has to be done about the absolute stupidity of the traffic situation there. I don't want to see anyones home value go in the toilet or the wetlands affected negatively or people's lives changed by bird singing noise replaced by traffic noise or their view f-ed up because of a giant new bridge. I can't decide if I'm for or against the completion of the connector to be honest. The way I see it I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't.
