Re: “Heavy Metal or Hate?

If you are a reporter you need to research your topics, not just take them at face value and fill in the rest with hearsay. I have seen all of these bands live and met most of the members personally. All of them have a genuine down-to-earth relationship with their fans. They don't promote violence in any way; only great music.
Mastodon is an interesting group of people who love sci-fi and the like. To be perfectly honest, they are kinda dorks except they prefer aggressive music.
Between the Buried and Me is an innovative group of artists who push the envelope of music in general, not just metal. By the way their name is a reference to life, an excerpt from the phrase 'There are 100 miles between the buried and me'.
Valient Thorr is one of my favorite bands ever because they use an unlikely method to reach folks that wouldn't typical listen to their promotion of peace. They choose their imagine simply because they know how to rock.
Just a bit of history for you, Jack Hunter. If anyone took the time to understand these bands there would not have been such ignorant journalism, but therein lies the problem.
