Wintertide Unplugged

When: Sat., Jan. 9 2010
Price: $15 (oyster roast)
Isle of Palms venue Morgan Creek Grill kicks off a new songwriter series on the upper deck this weekend. It looks like they’re promoting a variety of original artists in their uniquely scenic setting. Local acoustic folk/blues/pop singer-songwriter Danielle Howle — a Columbia native now based in the Lowcountry (pictured)— headlines the first installment of Wintertide Unplugged on Sat. Jan. 9. She shares the stage with indie-rock quartet A Fragile Tomorrow (they’re buddies with Howle from the Awendaw Green scene). On Sat. Jan. 16, the bill features Pamela Dale and Brodie Porterfield at 6 p.m. Howle returns on Sat. Jan. 23 for a round with Doug Jones, Valerie Miller, and Morgan Creek regular Rene Russell at 6 p.m. On Sat. Jan. 30, Dale returns alongside acoustic act Jonesalee. Admission to this week's show and oyster roast is $15. Music goes from 6-10 p.m. —T. Ballard Lesemann
