Re: “Over 200 rally for Charleston Birth Place’s survival

I chose to deliver at The Charleston Birth Place after a number of close friends had delivered there. I had heard of the wonderful experiences that they had with the midwives and all of the staff. Instead of focusing on all of the things that could go wrong during pregnancy and delivery as my OB had done, they focused on the beauty, strength, and love that goes along with pregnancy and childbirth. I learned so much about my body, my developing son and pre and post natal health. In the end my beautiful son was delivered via c section at Trident hospital when it was discovered that he was breach. I guess I’m an example of “what could go wrong”. Through all of it I knew that I was safe, and my baby was safe. And though it was not what we had envisioned it was….perfect. I’m positive it would not have been had I not chosen The Charleston Birth Place. My wish is that no woman regrets the actions surrounding the birth of her child. It would be a real shame if women no longer had this choice. The Birth Place is so important to this community. Support your local midwives!!
