Weekend Round-Up: Make a run for it 

The best events in Charleston, Jan. 13-15

It's another slow January weekend in the Lowcountry, but things will pick up soon.

The main attraction over the next few days is the Charleston Marathon, which goes from downtown to the Navy Yard and features a bunch of different events.

Bianca and Page, Tom Mackell, ‘Brother, Tyler Boone, and South Street will duke it out at CofC's Battle of the Bands. Shouldn't you kids be studying?

Charleston Restaurant Week has begun, and with it, the end of your “lose 10 pounds” New Year's resolution.

The Charleston Museum hosts its annual oyster roast at the Dill Sanctuary, with live bluegrass by the Blue Plantation Band.

We can't all be on Antiques Roadshow, but at least there's Critique My Antique to find out if that estate sale find was worth it.

Designer Donna Degnan, besides having an alliterative name and job, will be at Berlins with her spring 2012 trunk show.

Get a head start on next week's Charleston Comedy Festival with Improv Smackdown and Improv Riot.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, and the CSO's gospel choir and spiritual ensemble will perform their His Light Still Shines concert in honor of the civil rights leader.

Dance troupe Complexions will perform at the Gaillard.

Behanding in Spokane continues, and The Turn of the Screw opens at the Village Playhouse.

Learn all about Kevin Clash, the puppeteer behind Elmo, at a film screening of Being Elmo on Saturday. You either love him or you're unbelievably annoyed by him, depending on your age. Then on Sunday is Daisy Bates: First Lady of Little Rock.

Bob Raynor leads a 12-mile hike on Bulls Island on Saturday, and there's the Big Tree Hike at Congaree National Park.

Listen to music among the blueberries at the Blueberry Jam, featuring Sarah Cole and the Hawkes, Gaslight Street, and Dallas Corbett & Friends.

If your backyard needs some sprucing, get tips and see demonstrations at the Build, Remodel, and Landscape Expo.

And keep on drinking for Keegan-Filion Farm.
