Weekend Round-Up: A Day for Dell

The best events in Charleston, Dec. 9-11

They caught the guy that stabbed Dell! Which means that the Dellz Love Fest on Sunday should have a bit of a celebratory mood.

There's so much Christmas stuff that at this point my fingers are impulsively typing the word “Christmas” on their own without any thought. Christmas Christmas Christmas. Holiday highlights this weekend include Christmas 1860, A Christmas Journey, Holiday Open House and Art Sale, Tubachristmas, the West Ashley Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Pajama Celebration, Breakfast with Santa, the Edisto Christmas and Boat Parades, Family Yuletide, and the
Holiday Showcase at Rogue Wave.

This is the last weekend of Buy Local Month, and luckily there will be plenty of opportunities to do just that. Attend the Buy Local Open House at the Square Onion Too, the King Street Shop Walk, the City of North Charleston's Village Antiques and Collectibles Show, the Handmade Holiday Winter Market, or the last Holy City Artists and Fleas, and make sure to skip over the chain stores during Second Sundays on King.

There are two ugly sweater parties on Friday night: one at Johnson's Pub hosted by Get Real Charleston and another at Mad River to benefit Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. Does this mean you need two different ugly sweaters? No, but I'd like to think so.

Local screenprinting company SAVAGEultimate is an extension of the City Paper family in more ways than one. Not only do they do our T-shirts and koozies, but they work right under us. And the owner is married to our arts editor. No big deal. Play some ultimate frisbee with SAVAGE on Sunday at their Ultimate Gift Hat Tournament, a benefit for Toys for Tots. It's free to participate with a new, unwrapped toy.

The Gibbes will have a holiday-themed Community Day.

Adopt your kid's Christmas present at Santa Paws.

Bring toys and your motorcycle to Rock the Tots.

If the participants in the Jingle Bell Run/Walk take the theme very literally, than you'll be able to hear them on their path through Mt. Pleasant from a mile away.

Your Best Charleston Comic Andy Livengood brings back his The Christmas Will Be Televised show to Theatre 99. The venue will also have Theatre 99 Improv Jam, Improv Riot, and Tiny Shorts: Chairs are Hard to Sit In this weekend.

Get your fill of classic carols with the Holiday Ensemble Chamber Music Concert, Singing Christmas Tree, Celtic Christmas, Christmas at the Sottile, and the CSO Christmas Chamber Concert, or get a quirky take at the Holiday Extravaganza with the V-Tones. For something completely different, there's New Music New Charleston V.

Who needs The Nutcracker when Robert Ivey Ballet performs Peter and the Wolf and The Angel Tree? But if you need The Nutcracker, CBT has their Lowcountry version this weekend at the Gaillard — with dogs!

It's all ghosts and BB guns in the theater world. There's A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas, A Christmas Story, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some!), The Humbug Holiday Hour, It's A Wonderful Life, Waffle Haus Christmas, The Winter Wonderettes, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Static in the Snow and A Little Holiday Market returns to Avondale, setting up at Oak Barrel Tavern. Tina Christophilis and Lara Neece have FLY at ONE Boutique, and Redux plays host to the Durty Munny Art Show.

Willing to brave the cold? Then you might be interested in a Salt Marsh Visit, a Full Moon Paddle, Gifts from the Forest and Refuge, or the Morris Island Lighthouse Kayaking Tour.

SPROUTS will finish up their performances of The Princess and the Pea, and your kids can try out hybrid scooters at Zike Bike Day at the Mt. Pleasant and West Ashley Wonder Works.

Circus McGurkis, Charlton Singleton, and the Explorers Club have shows this weekend. There's also the Cool Yule Xmas Party.

And a bunch of big, burly, sweaty men will fight each other when the WWE Raw World Tour stops in North Charleston.
