Re: “The fight over Shem Creek starts to get interesting

Letter: Voter mandate in Mount Pleasant
Dec 10 2015 8:07 pm
The citizens of Mount Pleasant have spoken. The recent historic Nov. 3 election (and associated run-off) was a referendum on the parking garage. All incumbents who pushed the garage through were overwhelmingly defeated. What does that say? Mayor Linda Page and council members Ken Glasson, Chris O’Neal, Chris Nickels, and Thomasena Stokes-Marshall were wrong regarding the Shem Creek garage.
Considering the excessive amounts of money spent in opposition to Saving Shem Creek by those incumbents — and considering the high-level endorsements for the incumbents, (such as Arthur Ravenel, the chairman of the East Cooper Republican Party, the mayor and The Post and Courier) the election and the run-off was a complete landslide victory and mandate for the citizens who want to Save Shem Creek.

Re: “The debate over the proposed Shem Creek parking garage is starting to get loud

They will say the garage will increase business in the Shem Creek area...fine but put the 55' structure somewhere else close by...say next to Okra Grill...or on top of Okra Grill...or put Okra Grill on top of the garage at the Okra grill location...then the Okra grill diners can see Shem Creek while they dine...and in the other direction they can see the Coleman Blvd high rises....
