The Mayor's proposals indicate the sincerity of his belief in climate change and the potential harm to the port city if no precaution is taken to avoid it.
I commend him in his foresight, but it is an unreasonable stretch to connect these actions to the Paris Agreement. True, both rest on the belief that global warming is real and that man can alter or mitigate it, but beyond this, there is no action that any mayor can take that specifically parallels the requirements of the Agreement. It is inconceivable that any American city can or will take on the substantial financial burden that the Agreement demands on its members.
The only connection of the two is spiritual.
