VIDEO: Occupy Charleston targets Washington corruption

Brittlebank Park off to a slow start, but the campers are coming

Occupy Charleston got off to a slow start this afternoon, but organizers believe that the core group of protesters will show up this evening for the first night of camping in Brittlebank Park. Around 20 people showed up early in the afternoon. The occupation of the park began at noon today and is expected to last 99 hours.

The City Paper had a chance to talk to two of Occupy Charleston's organizers, Adrianna Varedi and Matt Rabon, as well as a several other participants.

Unlike some of their other Occupy brethren across the country, the men and women of Occupy Charleston have a clear message — and it's one that's shared by many Americans on both the left and the right: An end to Big Business' corruptive influence on Washington.
