Re: “City vows to inconvenience Crosstown drivers with unnecessary beautification project

Ok, say what you want about the green space in the median, that's not exactly necessary. However, the rest of the planned improvements are critical. I used to live just south of the Crosstown. Whenever I wanted to visit anywhere north of it, I was forced into either driving, going far out of my way to use the pedestrian bridge, or sprinting for my life. God forbid I ever wanted to walk along the Crosstown; the sidewalks are barley there and mostly broken. Traffic cameras on those intersections would go a long way towards managing some of the gridlock. It's not perfect, but it's a start.

If members of the surrounding neighborhood associations are so concerned, why don't they push for a bond referendum to finance the sewer work? It just seems like complaining just to complain. This project will still positively benefit their communities, so their ire just seems manufactured. Also, is it just coincidence that the very first comment on this post (mere minutes after it was posted, naturally) is from someone seeking to oust Riley? Who just happens to run an online local media outlet? I smell a (sewer) rat.
