Two Man Gentlemen Band, Reckoning

When: Wed., May 18 2011
Price: $10, $8 (adv.)
The Manhattan-based, seemingly tipsy acoustic string duo Two Man Gentlemen Band has been picking, harmonizing, and raising hell since 2005. Singer/banjoist Andy Bean and singer/bassist Fuller “Councilman” Condon started as a busking act in the streets and subways of New York with a set of old classic and original songs about romance, heartbreak, inebriation, and misbehavior in general. The duo returns to Charleston this week behind a brand-new collection of naughty and witty ditties titled Dos Amigos, Una Fiesta. Some songs celebrate reefer and wine while others swing and bounce through ruminations on parties ballads of loneliness. “We’ve become decidedly jazzy in the last two years,” says Bean. “These days, we like to call what we do vaudevillian swing, because it’s got that swing stuff, plus we like to put on a sort of old fashioned medicine show along with it.”
