Re: “Author Roger Pinckney is the high priest of Daufuskie Island

Well from a kids point of view that grew up on the island around the gullah, drugs, drinking and hunting. Taking a 45 minute boat ride just to skip school it was one hell of a ride. But all good things come to an end i guess with the construction comming to a stop, everyone i grew up with leaving because there is no work. It is kinda bitter sweet i no roger and susan both great people that are a cornerstone on the island i call home. All i have to say is what a pitty the place were i had my first job shut down the roads were i couldn't walk some were even if i really wanted to without being picked up. I went back several years ago and just took a walk not one car, truck, four weeler, or even golf cart gave a second look that told me enough. I ended up becoming one of those damn yankees roger speeks of i sail my Sc flag high. I may even take one of those tours soon not to hear the history just to remember what used to be my home. Oh ya sry for grammer remember 45 minute boat ride to skip school all of you islanders keep you head up and fight..
