Re: “The most shocking thing about Charleston Thug Life

I've read the blog and my conclusion is that I agree with Chris Haire. Most of the comments seem to be coming from people who have probably been accused of being racist themselves and are looking to validate their views.

Whatever the ultimate goal of Charleston Thug Life, it's still very assuming with comments like the following:
"Minors can't buy weapons, so the logical conclusion is those weapons in the photos are stolen." - WHY is this a logical conclusion? I've seen many fake guns that look strikingly real and I've seen many photos of silly little white girls holding a friend's, posing as "thugs," as they smoke a blunt. On Facebook. Where are they?
"Should we venture a guess as to what is in that plastic bag?" - Can it just be.. oh, I don't know, a plastic bag? o.O Those are Still common household items.

No matter how you spin it, their assumptions are Not based on facts, or even on the photographic evidence. It's based on racist stereotypes. If you're not racist - you don't have to say you're not racist. The shouting disclaims by the blogger are severe indicators that the writers are Well aware of the stance they're putting "out there." And I think they choose to keep their identities a secret not because they're truly frightened of these 17 year olds, but because they don't want to be the community racist. Most of the pictures the bloggers post are not of people with guns or drugs - they're screenshots of their poor grammar and photos of the "thugs" throwing up "gang signs" and money. Of course!!, crude finger language makes you into a thug. This is the hoodie thing all over again. And it's why every 18 year old white girl with a flat-billed cap who posts pictures Exactly like these are the cutest thugs around. Thank you so much for warning me against these terrible individuals!!!

Get a grip. Charleston Thug Life Is written by someone who has too much time on their hands and obviously needs to come to terms with their [pretty blatant] racism. If the blogger Is actually trying to make a valid, respectable point, he or she needs to change the blog's presentation at the very least and lose the stupid comments Entirely.

And because I know the blogger reads these comments, I will say this - This blog is no way to make the community feel safer; you are Not big brother and if you were, the community's best interest is having the police monitor the streets and prevent crime themselves, instead of sitting around waiting for you to post another set of pictures condemning nothing but stereotypes and bad grammar. You don't trust the media? It's because of media like yours that people have come to ridicule it so.
