Jon Bon Jovi got a few things right, well, mainly his hair. And he also wasn’t wrong when he sang, “Who says you can’t go home?” Coming home can be refreshing, relaxing, even exhilarating — just ask Dusty Slay. Slay makes his return to Charleston after moving to Nashville, and on Sunday, he’ll host the last installment of Charleston Music Hall’s Stand-up Series. “When I was living in Charleston and someone was a fan, they could have seen me three times a week, so it’s been a little longer [than normal],” he says. “I’ve got a renewed sense of excitement — getting to come back is exciting, seeing people I haven’t seen for a while is exciting, and I’m excited to do some jokes I’ve been working on.” He’s also pretty pumped about the other comedians performing. Lauren Krass is fresh off Princess Charming, her one-woman show at Theatre 99. It’s Michael Brocki’s first time at the Music Hall, so he’s going to bring his A game. And Slay says Vince Fabra has hit his comedic stride.
