THE SCENE

Late spring is in full swing and that means only one thing — I hit the streets of Charleston to enjoy the plethora of outdoor events this weekend. My adventures began Friday evening with mingling and merriment at the Taste of Spoleto, where raffle prizes at the entrance included discounted tickets and Spoleto merch. Speaking as an individual who spends a buck as quick as it hits my hand, the free grub donated by Lowcountry Eats! filled my broke belly, along with spirits provided by Charleston Brewing Company and wine from Castello Monte Vibiano, a vineyard a mere 10 kilometers from Spoleto, Italy.

Saturday's weather couldn't have been better for a day in Marion Square, where I strolled through the Farmer's Market and headed to the Carolina First Charleston Dog Show, where yours truly had the honor of getting an inside view of dog judging. No way was I going to let Cinco de Mayo pass by without a good cerveza, so as the sun went down on I made my way to the Cinco de Mayo Festival at the Visitor Center Bus Shed, where the night was spent salsa dancing and sipping on margaritas.

On Sunday, I traveled up the highway to check out the exhibits and performances at the North Charleston Arts Festival as well as the Lowcountry Gem and Mineral Show. With the weather set to get even better, make sure you clear your weekend schedules and enjoy some of the numerous outdoor events Charleston has to offer.
