The Price is Right, Live!

When: Fri., Feb. 1, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $38-$50
Sure, you may scoff at gameshows, but we bet you secretly love The Price is Right — because pretty much everybody does. That’s probably why the show is going on its 40th year. To celebrate, the show is taking to the road, leaving a train of cars, cash, speedboats, and the like in its technicolor wake. The only real difference between the traveling show and the televised one is Drew Carey, whose touring surrogate will be the Emmy Award-winning Todd Newton. “It’s just like the TV show,” says the North Charleston Performing Arts Center’s Alan Coker. “From Plinko to Cliff Hangers to the Big Wheel and even the fabulous showcases, all the favorite games are played just like on the show.” For a chance to be a contestant, you’ll have to show up three hours early the day of the show, which is when the registration to compete will take place. Purchasing a ticket won’t affect your chances of being selected. After you’ve signed up, maybe you should head to the grocery store and wander the aisles. Just a suggestion.
