The Nouveaux Honkies

When: Sat., Oct. 3 2009
Price: $6
The stylish Nouveaux Honkies are a gnarly-humored, musically-proficient blues/Americana combo from the small commercial fishing town of Port Salerno, Fla. Comprised of singer/guitarist Tim O’Donnell, singer/violinist (and S.C. native) Rebecca Dawkins, drummer Phil Ori, and bassist Mike “Ernie” Burney, the group started touring after they released their second album Where Do I Go — a fun and twangy rockabilly-tinged romp — in 2008. Blues Review magazine linked the sounds to “the Stones, with hints of Dire Straights, Curtis Mayfield, Hendrix, and Wolf.” The group recently hit the road for shows with such acts as Joe Bonamassa, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Waybacks, and The Lovell Sisters. Their brand-new five-song EP Live at Sun was recorded in Memphis in February.
