Ever want to attend a wedding but had no friends who were getting married? Well, now’s your chance, especially for those Mr. and Mrs.-to bes. The NotWedding is a bridal show alternative that has traveled to cities like San Diego, Orlando, and Atlanta and is now coming to Charleston. It is basically a big, fake wedding that shows off local wedding vendors in action, which can be super helpful for couples still waiting to plan their big-day details. “I started The NotWedding in Atlanta in 2008 when I was brainstorming ways to grow my own wedding photography business,” explains Callie Murray, founder and owner of The NotWedding. “I knew that the best and easiest business came from those that had seen me in action at other weddings, so I got the idea to recreate that experience. I gathered some of my wedding industry friends, and we produced the ultimate fake wedding. Our brides-to-be became wedding guests and could see everyone in action.” The “wedding guests” will enjoy a ceremony, dinner, and dance party with their tickets. Twenty-five local vendors will help host the event, including caterers, photographers, cake designers, videographers, and any other businesses you can think of that are needed to make a wedding happen. At the end of the night, guests will enter the “Tunnel of Love,” where they will have a chance to meet all the vendors. Get ready for the realest fake wedding you’ve ever been to.
