The Legends of Hip-Hop

When: Sat., Nov. 28 2009
Price: $36, $76

Hip-hop just isn’t what it used to be. Variety Entertainment and Star 99.7 hearken back to the good old days with the Legends of Hip Hop — and they don’t use that word lightly. Doug E. Fresh (pictured) and the Get Fresh Crew are throwing down along with Mr. Pimpin Ain’t Easy himself, Big Daddy Kane. DJ Rob Base, the genius behind the ubiquitous club jam “It Takes Two” (to make a thing go right...), performs as does one of the true gentleman of the game, Slick Rick. Let’s not forget Whodini, the first rap group to have official dancers — truly ground-breaking. This event is a precursor to next May’s FunkFest at the Family Circle Cup. VIP tickets give you front-row seats and exclusive meet-and-greet privileges with the performers. The afterparty goes down at Wingtime in North Charleston, hosted by Doug E. Fresh. Pull out your boombox and ride out to the PAC. —Patrick McGinn
