Based in Wilmington, N.C., strummy Americana quartet The Fustics keep pretty busy gigging around the Carolinas, Virginia, and Georgia with a warmly Southern, slightly gritty style of guitar-driven pop-rock. They lean more toward a vintage country-rock and garage blend than the jamgrass side of things, and the band seems to be on solid ground on their new, independently released album Beyond This Life (their third studio collection). The band describes their style as “original eclectic rock set to a Western Americana pulse.” Fronted by deep-toned singer and guitar slinger Brad Heller, the lineup includes lead guitarist Calloway Ritch, bassist Paul Castagno, and drummer Ronn Pifer. The band does a two-night stint at the Home Teams this weekend; Fri. March 5 on Sullivan’s Island, and Sat. March 6 in West Ashley. —T. Ballard Lesemann
