The Belleville Outfit

When: Tue., Oct. 13 2009
Price: $12, $10 (adv.)
They conquered the old Map Room with wit, skill, and grace. They sent beautiful echoes and reverberating bass notes into the rafters at the Music Farm. Now, eclectic sextet The Belleville Outfit has its sights set on the Pour House. The Austin, Texas-based band headlines on Tuesday evening in support of a new LP titled Time to Stand — a quick follow-up to the Wanderin’ LP released earlier this year. Expect a Django-tinged mix of big-band-swing, honky-tonk country, and gypsy jazz led by singer/fiddler Phoebe Hunt, bassist Jeff Brown, percussionist Jonathan Konya, keyboardist Connor Forsyth, and guitarists Rob Teter and Marshall Hood. Teter and Hood, both natives of Spartanburg, are well known in the Carolinas for their bluegrassy high-school band, The DesChamps. The Belleville Outfit was nominated for the Americana Music Association’s New and Emerging Artist this year. Time to Stand spent 15 weeks on the Americana chart this spring and summer. Their stylish approach and hearty songs are worth much more then a quick glance and listen.
