The Atypical Southern Comedy Quartet

When: Fri., Sept. 10, 10 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 11, 10 p.m. 2010
Price: $10
For those of us (re: everyone) who are long worn out by the novelty of the singing Billy Bob Bass, meet the Atypical Southern Comedy Quartet. For two nights, four comedians will deliver a tour that’s equal parts stand-up routine and movie shoot, as their performances will be filmed for an upcoming documentary about the tour. The project is the brainchild of Brooklyn-based comedian Rory Scovel. With two Theatre 99 performances under his belt already, he’s no stranger to Charleston. Scovel returns to the Lowcountry this weekend with three other comedians: Jarrod Harris, Sean Patton, and Nate Bargatze. Television viewers may already recognize a few of these names. Patton, a Charleston Comedy Festival alumni, has seen face time on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and a number of VH1 variety shows, while Bargatze has been featured on Late Night with Conan O’Brien twice. Both Scovel and Harris have made appearances on Comedy Central. With these comedians being no strangers to the boob tube, audience members can expect hearty laughs two nights in a row. —Jansen Cumbie
