The Aluminum Show

When: Sat., Jan. 22, 2 & 8 p.m. 2011
Did you ever play with a Slinky as a kid or watch your child become mesmorized by the winding roll of metal as it flops down the stairs? These days the toy seems to have vanished, but the upcoming Aluminum Show will bring you Slinkys like you’ve never seen before. The show combines visual theater, movement, and an unusual costume of aluminum tubing for a unique experience. Ten performers depict the family-friendly story of a young machine searching for its parents. You will be surprised by the originality creator Ilan Azriel presents with his human Slinkys. Be prepared to see aluminum in a completely new light and laugh along as puppetry is taken to the next level. Who know, maybe you’ll even start looking at your air-conditioning tubing or roll of aluminum foil with a more creative eye. —Joelle Pettus
