Taste of Charleston expands to three days

New events, more food

The Taste of Charleston is right around the corner, so now’s the time to secure your tickets and mark up your calendar.

The 29th annual event, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, will take place Oct. 9-11. And while you may have experienced the sampling extravaganza at Boone Hall that is the festival’s main event, chances are you haven’t checked out some of the other worthy offerings.

The week kicks off on Friday at the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s Palmer Campus with an Iron Chef Competition ($20). The event pits some of the best local chefs against each other in a culinary battle.

On Saturday, head back to Palmer for cooking demonstrations, wine and beer classes, a buffet lunch, and more at Taste of the Kitchen ($45).

Saturday evening, various art galleries downtown will participate in Taste of the Arts, an art walk with a culinary focus ($20). Then Sunday is the taste-tacular main event at Boone Hall ($10/adv., $12/gate).
