Art for a cause

The Gibbes Museum, in collaboration with Charleston art galleries, restaurants, and musicians presents an art exhibit and reception displaying the work of over 94 Charleston artists. The exhibit was created in honor of the Emanuel Nine and the artists have created pieces inspired by unity and healing. Proceeds from the sale of art will benefit the Coastal Community Foundation, which created the Lowcountry Unity Fund for Mother Emanuel, an organization that grants money to programs that “foster a climate of love, equality, and progress.” William Means Real Estate, Mitchell Hill Gallery, Hall’s Chophouse and many other local organizations have contributed to this event, with a gallery open to public bidding, a “quick sale” wall, where pieces will be sold for $200, first come, first serve, and a performance by Colour of Music, a group of black classical musicians. Even if you can’t make it to the events, you can view the art at the Cigar Factory during business hours and bid online until Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
