One last remark. The article concludes: "We can do better." Yes we can. We can just dump this legislation and punish people equally and not show favoritism. And if we think that Dr. King would have pandered to the homosexuals, I believe he wouldn't have.

As a resident in the Greenville area, I strongly disagree with the call for hate crimes legislation in South Carolina. As President Bush once said, all crime is motivated by hatred. If someone kills a homosexual, they should be punished but not any more than someone killed for another reason. As someone else once said, what are we going to do? Execute an offender twice? As one would expect, it would be a couple of liberals like Robert Ford (the ONLY member of the South Carolina Senate to vote against the amendment banning gay marriage - it passed 42-1) and Seth Whipper (who failed to vote on the amendment that passed 96-3 in the South Carolina House). Idiotic foolishness and pandering.
