Re: “How humble Summerville became a Mecca of punk, metal, and hardcore in the early '00s

I read it again, and trying to be fair. The article wants to comment on the history of the S'ville punk scene, but even the title suggests that it didn't exist prior to the early 00s. The people you wrote about may have found punk in a big way in the early 2000s, and I don't mean to diminish that scene in any way. I wouldn't have a problem with the article if it were presented as strictly what it is: a commentary on S'ville punk during those years and at the places you mention. But it's insulting to suggest that this era you write about is the beginning of it all. Which is what you do.

Re: “How humble Summerville became a Mecca of punk, metal, and hardcore in the early '00s

The article suggests that a punk scene didn't exist in Summerville prior to the 00's. That is wrong. There was a pretty vibrant punk scene in Summerville in the 90s. You should talk to Rachael, for sure. She can tell you and show you. The Ladson Homemakers page has a lot about it, too. It was before the time of the people writing the article and the people quoted in it, so I guess it's understandable that you wouldn't know about it. But if the scene that you are writing about was built on it, then you should know about it.

Re: “The most shocking thing about Charleston Thug Life

@ mat catastrophe- if i were to say that all black people were thugs (or 'wanna-be thugs'), that would be racist. I don't believe all black people are thugs. I also don't believe that most black people are thugs, or even that a lot of black people are thugs. The problem isn't black people. It is thugs and thug culture. Drunk soccer moms driving intoxicated are also assh*les- whatever their skin color may be. Basically, anyone interfering with me and other law-abiding citizens living our lives without getting hurt or potentially getting hurt are assh*les. Expose them all. This particular website is concentrating on thugs. Good.
