Honestly, it's next to impossible to find a place where the money is consistently good. There are a bunch of well established and higher priced establishments that make this possible, but I'm always shocked at places like the alley or burns where 1 and 2 dollar beers and drinks are the norm and tips range in the 2-8 dollar range, if that. Coupled with 2.13 an hour? No one wants to work for free, or worse, pay for parking and THEN work for free.

The city is oversaturated with unestablished and low-end restaurants and bars where check prices just aren't enough to make a living, coupled with incredibly high expectations because "southern hospitality". I bartended in NY for 7 years and here for 2. We NEVER had a problem staffing in NY because even in the summer months, we had consistent paychecks. Who wants to work for 100 bucks a week? Better yet, who can afford to?
