Re: “Charleston ranks first in the state among municipalities graded for LGBTQ protection and inclusion

I love the people who complain about whining writing a paragraph doing nothing but whining. You literally are bitching on a comment section about something that has nothing to do with you. You are whining about something that does not affect you. You sound like a toddler who was forced to share some of his toys from his toy box. Good job, bud.

Re: “For some Charleston restaurants, the staffing shortage shows no signs of stopping

Honestly, it's next to impossible to find a place where the money is consistently good. There are a bunch of well established and higher priced establishments that make this possible, but I'm always shocked at places like the alley or burns where 1 and 2 dollar beers and drinks are the norm and tips range in the 2-8 dollar range, if that. Coupled with 2.13 an hour? No one wants to work for free, or worse, pay for parking and THEN work for free.

The city is oversaturated with unestablished and low-end restaurants and bars where check prices just aren't enough to make a living, coupled with incredibly high expectations because "southern hospitality". I bartended in NY for 7 years and here for 2. We NEVER had a problem staffing in NY because even in the summer months, we had consistent paychecks. Who wants to work for 100 bucks a week? Better yet, who can afford to?
