Stark Raven Mad: Poe and Sullivan’s Island

The life of Edgar Allan Poe, and the role nature played in his work, will be the focus of this event. Nancy Vinson, water quality program director of the Coastal Conservation League, will open the evening at 6 p.m. with a talk on “Tidal Marshes – The Ocean’s nursery ground.” Afterwards, South Carolina Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth will read from Poe’s work and discuss the role of nature in it. Students from Sullivan’s Island Elementary School will share Poe poems during an open mic.
