Charleston may not be as famous for its St. Patrick’s Day activities as our neighbors Columbia and Savannah, but then again, when does Charleston ever lack for a party? Irish pub Madra Rua is partnering with the City of North Charleston and other Park Circle businesses to make sure our St. Patrick’s Day is a great one with an all-day, family-friendly block party. The festivities begin at noon with the parade down Montague Avenue. After the parade, stick around for festivities that include live music, jump castles, face painting, and even a mechanical bull. Some of the confirmed bands include Karl Byrne, Folk Gras, Don Merckle and the Blacksmiths, Wadata, Sean Austin Leonard, The Three Dudes, and Lizzy Pitch. “I think the thing I like the most about it is that it’s a family event,” says Madra Rua general manager Jenny Lee Ford. “It’s great because the grown-ups can hang out with their friends while the kids are having a great time. I think it’s unusual for people to find something like that where they can take their kids.”
