Re: “Nikki Haley's sister, Simran Singh, is a metaphysical mogul

There's a massive difference between TED and TED-X. TED is an actual vetted conference where very intelligent people discuss interesting issues and offer poignant solutions. TED-X is where anyone who can manage to string together some pseudoscience can talk, the speakers aren't vetted much at all. That's why you can get the metaphysical people at TED-X. It's not the same thing at all. Please stop confusing it with actual TED talks.

Re: “Skip ReVille was unstoppable until a mother found him out

@sdr35hw, That's the wrong conclusion to draw from the research. While the psychologist seems to have used his expertise to help confirm the fact that Reville was indeed attracted to young boys, there is no reason to think that a horrible incident like the ones he caused lead directly to abusers. It might encourage a lack of self-control due to very low self-worth (I'm a piece of shit so therefore who cares if I do horrible things, people hate me anyway), but as MTG said with counseling that risk could dramatically decrease.

Re: “Commerce Department rail plan pisses on Park Circle

While the Mayor's plan wasn't perfect, it did show that he was trying to maintain the area as-is and was willing to work with the rail companies on finding a workaround. The Commerce Department's plan shows that our area is misjudged, and that those in the Commerce Department don't really understand the far-reaching impact this would have.

Not only would this rail line divide off Park Circle from the majority of the rest of North Charleston and Mount Pleasant, but the constant influx of heavy train traffic would drive down house prices (no one wants to be woken up in the middle of the night by train horns) and stifle growth in both Park Circle and the Old Navy Base.

We need to write and call our legislators about this one, people, not just get angry in comments. Contact them at http://sccommerce.com/contact or call (800) 868-7232.
