Spoleto Scenesters ready for party season

See and be Scene

A crowd of young Charlestonians, ranging from fresh faced college grads to lightly salt ‘n peppered professionals, gathered at the Dock Street Theater Wednesday night. The Kickoff Party was hosted by Scene, an organization of young Spoleto patrons. Open to current and potential Scene members, the party successfully excited and enticed attendees to join in the Spoleto festivities ahead.

The twenty and thirty-somethings strolled freely through the newly renovated historic downtown theater, exploring the upstairs balcony, ballroom, and taproom, and convening downstairs in the enchanted courtyard. This access to the theater was reflective of the exclusive festival opportunities Scene membership provides, which include a variety of private performance and social events.

Out in the courtyard, the sunlight faded into a soft orange glow as a string trio strummed classic southern melodies, barely audible over the loud chatter of guests. Catered finger foods, such as cucumbers slices topped with pimento cheese, teriyaki chicken skewers, and filo dough shells filled with olive tapenade, were passed around, and an open bar served wine, beer, and a signature Scene cocktail courtesy of Firefly Distillery. From khaki pants to skinny jeans, Lilly to Louis, the cultured crowd mingled, networked, and enjoyed a sampling of the seasonal fun ahead.
