Specialty Foods South distributes local gourmet products like benne wafers, barbecue sauce, Carolina Gold Rice, and stone-ground white and yellow grits. Owner Jimmy Hagood of Blackjack Barbecue sources hundreds of products and sells them online. He recently opened a spanking new restaurant in the renovated section of the Charleston City Market called Food for the Southern Soul. All the sandwiches, sides, and fixings at this kiosk are made at Tidewater Catering, which is also affiliated with Specialty Foods South. —Alison Sher
