Southern Flame Food and Music Festival

When: Sat., April 21, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. 2012
Price: $8-$10/car for parking
Things are heating up in Charleston, and we don’t just mean the weather. Saturday, the Southern Flame Festival will have Summerville sizzling with a killer combo: barbecue and bluegrass. Here to celebrate the best in Southern cooking, the all-day food and music festival will pit 15 to 20 teams against each other in a cutthroat barbecue competition judged by the Southern Barbeque Network. Later, eight to 10 Lowcountry restaurants will vie for the coveted title of People’s Choice in the Southern Foods Competition. Take a break from your food coma and post up in a lawn chair (we suggest you bring your own) as an impressive lineup of bluegrass, rock, and country bands play from 11 a.m. to dusk, including Boundless, Common Ground, DD Cumbee, and Eddie Bush and the Mayhem. All proceeds benefit Summerville Miracle League, a baseball program for children with special needs.
