Sons of Bill w/ The Kid Carsons

When: Fri., Dec. 30 2011
Price: $10
The New Year’s Eve holiday is an allusive thing for Sons of Bill. Last year, they rocked a full house at the Windjammer the day after New Year’s Eve. This year, they return to play the day before New Year’s Eve. Along with their annual Labor Day show at the Jammer, these hard-touring Virginia boys have gotten in the habit of visiting town at odd times. Bassist Seth Green remembers last year fondly. “Last year the night ended with us shaking over-ripe grapefruits out of a tree on a friend’s front lawn,” he says. “The whole drive back north up I-95, there were grapefruits rolling around the van, getting under the driver’s feet. It was awesome.” The Windjammer bar staff loves these guys almost as much as the band loves playing there, which is a lot. Frontman James Wilson and his bandmates have been touring on 2009’s One Town Away for a few years now, but they’ve been playing a few songs from their upcoming March release, Sirens, including two of the better songs in recent memory, “Santa Ana Winds” and “Virginia Calling.” If you haven’t seen these guys live, you’re in for an unrelenting assault. And you will never see more sweat pouring off a band.
