Part of Piccolo Spoleto's Spotlight Concert Series. Critically-acclaimed violinist Lee-Chin Siow, Director of the Strings Program and Professor of Violin at the College of Charleston, will launch her debut album Songs My Father Taught Me at the opening recital of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival’s Spotlight Concert Series. Enrique Graf, pianist and artist-in-residence at the College, will join her in the performance. (1 hr.)

The Buzz:

WHAT IS IT? The Spotlight Concert Series creates a musical backbone for Piccolo Spoleto. Its storied history, choice of venues, widely varied stylistic choices and display of talent never fail to create something truly special.

WHY SEE IT? This year’s Spotlight Series promises to continue the tradition. Talent ranges from Charleston Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Yuriy Bekker to the Charleston Chamber Opera to College of Charleston professor of violin Lee-Chin Siow to Greenville’s Ensemble Argos to performances of Stravinki’s A Soldier’s Tale to an evening in which no less than 40 trombones perform on one stage at the same time. No kidding!

WHO SHOULD GO? There’s always something tucked away in this series that will appeal to just about everyone, but even if a particular performance stretches your personal tastes, the talent displayed should not only more than make up for the stretch, but also give you a new direction to explore.
