SOLUST: Summer Solstice Music Festival

When: Sat., June 21 2014
Price: $30
Here at the City Paper, we’re not major yogis. We appreciate a good downward dog or happy baby every once in a while, but if we had to pick a favorite, it’d be the sun salutation. Mainly because it makes us feel like our chakras are catching some rays. But if you want some real sunshine, there’s always Solust, a music festival celebrating the summer solstice. The music starts playing at 1 p.m. with Charleston’s own Dead 27s, followed by The Executives, Dank Sinatra, Stereo Reform, Robby Hunter Band, Timmy D, and Huey Mack. Cisco Adler — who you may know as Whitestarr’s frontman, singer of “Corona and Lime” with Shwayze, ex of Mischa Barton and Paris Hilton, or just the dude who took an infamous nude selfie — will be performing tracks off his new album Coastin’. And The Dirty Guv’nahs will perform the closing set once the sun has gone done. Roti Rolls, Diggity Doughnuts, Gidget Gourmet, Autobanh, and more will be providing eats for show-goers, and the Boston Beer Company, Curious Traveler Beer Company, New Belgium Brewing, Palmetto Brewery, Carolina Brewery, Redhare Brewing, and Bud Light will be selling brews. Wristbands are required to buy alcohol — they’ll run you one dollar — and all proceeds from the booze bracelets, along with 10 percent of all ticket sales, will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Rob Shore and his battle with the disease. If you feel like a baller, upgrade to the VIP status, which gets you an open bar, private lounge, and free food. And since the event is held on a farm, there’s a good chance you’ll see some animals. “Free-range water buffalo may be seen wandering,” says Solust rep Logan Berry of Legare Farms.
