Society 1858 Launch Party

When: Fri., May 21, 7-10 p.m. 2010
Generations X and Y may be considered lazy and apathetic by their parents, but some Charleston members of that age group are clearly trying to prove mom and dad wrong. Named after the year the Carolina Art Association was formed, Society 1858 was recently launched by group of young professionals to benefit the Gibbes Museum of Art. Society 1858 was founded to support the Gibbes through social and education programs for up-and-coming art patrons. They’re holding their launch party in the museum’s courtyard on Friday night. The event’s sponsors include Caviar and Bananas and the Charleston Beer Exchange, who will supply cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. — Caitlyn Chimento
