Looking to unleash that Juggalo that’s buried deep down inside you? Staying true to its name, Evolution Art, which billed itself as an alternative festival to Spoleto the past couple of years, has condensed all of its wacky action into one crazy night at the Oasis. The night features local and Myrtle Beach burlesque performers and a variety of music, including psychobilly-metal act The Sawyer Family (described as “Josh Homme meets Ozzy with ample amounts of Beethoven thrown in”) and surf-punk performers The Baboon Brigade. You can get your performing arts fix when the Chaotic Taoist Theatre puts on a spooky play and the Red Hot Rebelettes (with guests) perform as well. There’s also hula-hooping with flames, a carnie- and horror-themed art show (as if carnies aren’t creepy enough by themselves), body and face painting, and other weirdly awesome stuff. Oh, and the absolute scariest thing of all: a clown in pasties. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes, so put to use those tattered Superman underoos you couldn’t throw away. Perhaps best of all, the night’s got what really is the ultimate alternative to Spoleto: free, ample parking. —Cameron Jones
