Big artists, small works

We can’t all afford painted canvases spanning the length of a living room wall. One day, our art collection will make magazines, but until that day, we will settle for beautiful, carefully crafted small works by some of our favorite artists, hailing from near and far. Meyer Vogl’s impressive roster of gallery artists will be selling their small pieces — ranging from 4”x4” to 16”x20” — throughout the month of December, perfect for walls, nooks, or Christmas stockings. Choose from works by Northern California-based oil painter Sandy Ostrau, who uses thick and uneven paint application to let viewers in on the intimate process, the struggle. Or, find pieces from contemporary local artist Carrie Beth Waghorn that are comprised of a few black lines against a white background, simple yet visceral presentations of the female form.
