The story of Willie Earle Ray has been in my family for generations because my grandfather was supposedly involved in one way or another. Yes, it is a dark spot on the history of South Carolina. But it is one we can learn from. I do not believe in a "color-blind" society, unless society as a whole loses its sight. But I think there are alot more important issues in South Carolina right now. Like, SC is 3rd in the nation for crime, of the 25 worst schools in the nation SC has 9, we are 6th in the nation for obesity. This is our home. I am proud to be from the south, because of what the south represents: hospitality, relaxing on the porch, beautiful scenery, friendliness. Did you know the original settlers in SC settled here to start culture and education? Where is that culture and education now? Take pride in our state. Learn from our ancestors' mistakes, and make things better.
