We think they named Saffire's to reflect the hidden jewel that it is. No one expects to find decent food in the bottom of a Marriott on Brittlebank Park, far away from the surging sidewalks of the City Market, but then again, if you haven't seen the ultra-modern reinvention of the Marriott, you won't believe us when we say it's downright cool. With the expansive bar, tailor-made for business travelers with expense accounts, the crackling flames of the wood-fired oven peeking from the semi-open kitchen, and the creative fare and local produce that seems to personify the menu, Saffire's should be placed on every foodie's list of spots to check out. We go for the appetizers, the cold martinis, and the cute waitresses with Eastern European accents — then we pretend to be smack dab in the middle of a James Bond film. —Jeff Allen, Dish (Winter 2010)
