Sidi Limehouse, probably the area’s most legendary and recognizable farmer, spends his days farming the land of Johns Island with curiosity and tenderness. He grows an abundant variety of vegetables and fruits and does what he can to give back to the land. From arugula and asparagus to cantaloupes, figs, and Meyer lemons, he grows it all. Sidi distributes to restaurants through Limehouse Produce (run by relations Jack and Andrea Limehouse). You can pick up your veggies from a number of locations including Sidi’s farm stand (daily, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., April through December) or at the Johns Island Farmers Market. At the stand you’ll find much more than just Sidi’s pro≠≠≠duce: sweetgrass baskets, photographs of the Lowcountry, and homemade goods like tomato pies, key lime pies, and crab cakes.
