In the longhaired tradition of such rock power trios as the James Gang, Blue Cheer, Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and others of that era, young three-piece Rose Hill Drive recently emerged from Boulder’s hippied-out band scene and broke into the national spotlight. Guitarist Daniel Sproul, brother/bassist Jacob Sproul, and drummer Nate Barnes crank up the riffy nastiness and distortion levels on their newly-released sophomore album, Moon Is the New Earth. Oxford, Miss., quintet Colour Revolt return with their grandiose and guitar-heavy alt-rock and an impressive album titled Plunder, Beg, and Curse. L.A. rock band The Lonely H open in support of a new one called Hair. —TBL
