ROCKIN' ON THE POINT

Rockin' at the Point continues this Fri. July 18 at the Charleston Harbor Resort (20 Patriots Point Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant) with two sets of funk and rock tunes from the Columbia-based rock quartet Villanova — lead singer/songwriter Brian Connor, bassist Bobby Dredd, drummer Jeremy Roberson, and turntablist/sampler DJ Able. The band's latest album Making Noise features "a unique style of funk and hip-hop rock." The party starts at 6 p.m. Visit www.villanovaband.net and www.charlestonharborresort.com for more.

INDECISION Two-Fer

Considered one of the "originators of the jam band movement," Charlottesville, Va., band Indecision makes its way back to Charleston this month after a six-year absence. Indecision plays a free-of-charge, all-acoustic set at Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ (1205 Ashley River Road) at 4:30 p.m. on Sat. July 19. The band performs a full-on, amped-up set at the Pour House later that night at 9 p.m. (tickets are $10). Check out www.indecision.com for more.

SLIM IN FRANCE

Local blues man Gary "Shrimp City Slim" Erwin and singer Wanda Johnson embark on a brief tour of France this month. They'll be performing at the Cognac Blues Passions Festival July 26-27 and a handful of gigs in the Paris area. Visit www.bluespassions.com and www.shrimpcityslim.com for more.

SUMMER BASH

Summer is barely four weeks into itself, yet promoter Russ Newton presents an all-ages End of Summer Bash at the Music Farm on Thurs. July 17. The event features authentic riff-rock from Zeppelin tribute act ZOSO and groove-heavy dub and dancehall sounds from reggae/funk band Dub Island Sound System. Tickets are $12 ($10 advance). Doors open at 8 p.m. Visit www.musicfarm.com for more.

KRAYS-EE Jammer GIG

A local bar band supergroup congregates this Sunday at the Windjammer under the band name The Krays (not be confused with the Brooklyn punk band) as part of the Budweiser Bikini Bash. Featuring members of Babyfat, Soul Fish, and Hot Sauce, the lineup includes singer/guitarist Rotie Salley, singer/drummer Morgan Sprott, guitarist Jeff Bateman, bassist Wayne Mitchum, and keyboardist Bill Nance. Tropix International Sounds spins grooves before the contest from 3:30-6 p.m. and The Krays crank it at 7 p.m. Visit www.the-windjammer.com for more. —T. Ballard Lesemann
