You missed one of the larger points. She did not tell the truth. Minimum wage has only been 7.25 since the summer of 2009, so the ten year story is false anyway. I understand the average fast food wage in Charleston to be about $9.00 so I would have to agree there is a problem here.
A better question is about margins, most restaurants make about 10% and labor costs are near 25%. Double the labor cost and just go out of business and everyone loses job.

FYI,That McDonald's is owned by a local man that started out cooking french fries at McDonald's and employs over 50 people with insurance offered and vacations and flexible schedules. Ther are no "connections" involved just hard work and persistance. Did I forget to mention he gives several scholarships each year to employees and families. The PGA impact is just not that easy to measure. There was some good and bad from it.
